Nonprofit aims to increase affordable housing options in Richmond area

A local nonprofit is seeking community input on how to create affordable housing in the Richmond area.

The Partnership for Housing Affordability, managed by the Richmond Association of Realtors, said this week it is holding a series of meetings in Richmond and Chesterfield, Hanover and Henrico counties in the coming months to develop a regional housing framework with strategies on how to create affordable housing and improve neighborhoods.

The idea is to come up with a framework laying out affordable housing options for people at every stage of their lives, whether they rent or own, said Laura Lafayette, CEO of the Richmond Association of Realtors.

“We want variety, we want choices and we want people to have quality affordable housing,” Lafayette said Monday.
